HB 2518       RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT.
           Provides comprehensive civil service reform by enacting the "Public
           Employment Reform Act"; and repealing Chapters 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81,
           82, 83, 89, 89A, and 89C of the Hawaii Revised Statutes. (LAB/FIN)


Heard on Tuesday, February 15, Agenda #1:


HB 1987       RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
           Upon application to the ERS board, allows a class A member to withdraw
           for one time only, the member's contributions (or a portion thereof)
           for financial hardship.  (LAB/FIN)

HB 2452       RELATING TO THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.
           Specifies that only the member's base salary, including shortage
           differential pay, is to be used to compute the member's average final
           compensation and contributions to the ERS.  (LAB/FIN)

HB 1869       RELATING TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEE HEALTH BENEFITS.
           Creates health benefit board serving both public employers and
           employees with flexible powers to terminate certain coverages.  Limits
           employer contributions for active and retired employees based on
           legislative appropriations.  Repeals existing PEHF law.  (LAB/FIN)

HB 1871       RELATING TO THE HAWAII PUBLIC EMPLOYEES HEALTH FUND.
           Empowers the board of the Public Employees Health Fund to annually
           audit health benefits plans offered by employee organizations.

HB 2445       RELATING TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES HEALTH FUND.
           Permits the Health Fund to return the employees' share of insurance
           carrier refunds to beneficiaries based on their years of benefit plan
           participation.  (LAB/FIN)

HB 2449       RELATING TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES HEALTH FUND.
           Requires the Public Employees Health Fund Board of Trustees to
           implement the following for the benefit plan year beginning July 1,
           2001:  (1) preferred provider organization plans for medical benefits;
           (2) Medicare+Choice plans; (3) revised drug benefit plans; and (4) a
           revised methodology for computing out-of-pocket costs to ensure
           comparability for all employee beneficiaries. (LAB/FIN)

HSCR 480-00   Requires employers to provide meal breaks after six hours of work.

HB 2556 HD1   RELATING TO SAFETY INSPECTION FREQUENCIES FOR REGULATED EQUIPMENT.
HSCR 481-00   Provides that the period between safety inspections not exceed seven
           months for boilers, pressure systems, amusement rides and elevators.

HB 2739 HD1   RELATING TO CORRECTIONS.
HSCR 92-00    Makes an appropriation to the department of public safety to indicate
           the intention and ability of the State of Hawaii to proceed with the
           private development of a correctional facility to reduce prison
           overcrowding, utilizing public funds or private funds, or a combination
           of both. (PSM,FIN)
